“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

~ Carl Gustav Jung

Welcome to the clinical psychology practice of Beverly Slater.

Beverly Slater has been working as a clinical psychologist for over fifteen years and has a wealth of knowledge in the field. Clinical psychology is the branch of psychology that focuses on assessing and treating mental illnesses, abnormal behaviour or psychiatric problems.
A clinical psychologist specializes in diagnosing and treating mental illness. They do not prescribe medication, but instead integrate psychological techniques, or therapies, such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), systemic and eco-systemic methods, narrative therapy, client-centred perspectives.
Psychotherapy is the process of healing that takes place within a therapeutic relationship. Talking with a trained professional in a contained space gives patients insight into their emotions, thoughts, past events and relationships. Psychotherapy can assist with alleviating enormous pain and suffering, as well as adding meaning and richness to everyone’s lives.
Psychotherapy is all about the patient. It helps patients achieve their full potential, either through the therapy alone or in conjunction with other mental health and/or medical specialities.

“Understanding does not cure evil, but it is a definite help,
inasmuch as one can cope with a comprehensible darkness.”

~ Carl Gustav Jung
